The Cow & The Beanstalk
Tuesday, July 14 at 10:30am; Wednesday, July 15 at 1pm

A time honored classic, “Jack and the Beanstalk” is given a fanciful RRFT turn in this version by Ian August (book and lyrics) and Mark Baron (music). These New Jersey artists previously teamed with RRFT producer Paul Whelihan, providing music and lyrics for his script of TREASURE ISLAND. Whelihan directs Cow and the Beanstalk. “The story, as we know it, tells of an impoverished mother and her child looking for a way to better their lives,” he says. “In what seems a ridiculous trade, the boy exchanges the family cow for supposedly magic beans. The beans turn out to provide a pathway to a heavenly home of riches, to which the boy helps himself. And they all live happily ever after…NOT!” “Allright, so there’s Jack,” quips Whelihan. “There’s an enormous green bush that rises to the clouds. There’s a surly giant, a goose and a talkative harp living up there. Has anyone even considered the COW -- the very currency in the barter for the beans that grows the beanstalk? The cow finally gets her say in this production!”

The Sword In The Stone
Sunday 19 at 3pm, Tuesday, July 21, 28 at 10:30; Wednesday, July 29 at 1pm

Written by Paul Farinella (book, music and lyrics), this adventure chronicles the early days of King Arthur in Medieval England. As an infant, Arthur is chosen by Merlin the Magician to fulfill the destiny of becoming king of the struggling land. SWORD IN THE STONE follows the Wizard and his charge on many adventures. Arthur and Merlin explore the magic of the earth, fire, wind and rain. They soar through the skies transformed as birds, swim the waters transformed as fish and battle a fire breathing, barbecuing dragon in deep, dark caves. As Arthur matures, he is taught important life lessons that will prepare him to become the righteous ruler of the struggling country. “Heartwarming and adventurous and thought-provoking and fun!”
